Okay, so today I found myself with a bit of free time and got to thinking about baseball announcers. Don Orsillo popped into my head. I always enjoyed his style, you know? Just a solid, enjoyable voice for the game. It made me wonder, is he active on Twitter? Seemed like a simple enough question to answer.
My Little Search Adventure
So, I grabbed my phone, opened up the Twitter app. First thing, tapped that little magnifying glass icon for search. Easy enough. I typed in “Don Orsillo”.
Right away, a whole mess of results showed up. Lots of tweets mentioning him, naturally. People quoting him, talking about games he called, that sort of thing. That wasn’t quite what I was looking for, though. I wanted to see if he had an account.

I switched over to the ‘People’ tab in the search results. That narrowed it down a bit. Saw a few accounts with his name, or variations of it.
Sorting Through the Noise
This is where it gets tricky these days. Used to be you’d look for the blue checkmark, but that’s not the reliable sign it once was. So, I started clicking into a few profiles that looked like they might be him.
- One had a picture that looked right, but hadn’t posted anything in years. Seemed abandoned.
- Another one had posts, but they felt… off. Not really how you’d expect a public figure to tweet. Maybe a fan account? Hard to tell.
- Saw a couple more that were clearly fan-run pages, which is fine, but not what I was after.
I spent maybe ten, fifteen minutes scrolling and clicking around. Checked the bios, looked at who they were following or who followed them. Sometimes you can tell by seeing if other verified sports people follow an account. Didn’t find any slam dunk indicators for an active, official account he uses regularly.
What I Reckon
So, after all that poking around, my conclusion? It doesn’t seem like Don Orsillo is a big Twitter guy. Maybe he has a private account, or maybe he just doesn’t bother with the platform much. Honestly, can’t say I blame him if that’s the case. Social media can be a real headache.

It’s kind of refreshing, in a way. Not everyone needs to be constantly online, sharing every thought. Made me think I should probably just stick to enjoying his commentary during the actual games when I catch them. That’s where the real magic is anyway, right? Just a simple search, but it led me down a little path today.
