So, I got really into darts recently. You know, the game where you throw little pointy things at a board? Yeah, that one. And let me tell you, it’s way more fun than it sounds. At first, I thought it was just some pub game, but I’ve been totally hooked.
I started by getting myself a cheap dartboard and some basic darts. Nothing fancy, just enough to get the feel for it. I set it up in my garage, cleared some space, and started throwing. My first few throws? Let’s just say the wall took more hits than the board. But hey, you gotta start somewhere, right?
I watched a few videos online to get the basics down. You know, how to stand, how to grip the dart, the whole throwing motion. It looked so easy when the pros did it, but let me tell you, it takes some practice. I spent hours just trying to get a consistent throw. Slowly but surely, I started hitting the board more often.

Then I stumbled upon Peter Wright. This guy is a legend in the dart world. Colorful mohawk, crazy outfits, and throws like a machine. He’s known as “Snakebite,” which I thought was pretty cool. He became like my dart hero, and I started watching all his matches, trying to pick up little things from his technique. I tried imitating his stance, his throw, everything.
My Peter Wright Dart Setup
- Dartboard: I upgraded to a decent bristle board. It’s much better than the cheap one I started with. The darts stick better, and it’s way more satisfying.
- Darts: This is where it got interesting. I found out that Peter Wright uses specific darts, and of course, I had to try them. They’re a bit heavier than the ones I was using, and they have these special flights that are supposed to help with stability.
- Practice Routine: I started getting more serious about practicing. I made myself a little routine, focusing on different parts of the board. I’d spend time aiming for doubles, then triples, then just trying to get a high score with three darts. It was like a game within a game, and I got obsessed with improving my score.
After weeks of practicing with the “Peter Wright” darts, I felt a real difference. My throws were more consistent, and my scores started going up. I even managed to hit a few 180s, which is like the holy grail of darts. It’s such a rush when you hit those. Each time felt like winning the lottery. Still can’t do it consistently, but when it happens, you bet I celebrate.
I’m still no pro, not even close, but I’m having a blast. It’s a great way to unwind after work, and it’s surprisingly addictive. I even joined a local darts league. It’s a bit intimidating playing against people who’ve been doing it for years, but it’s also a lot of fun. Plus, it pushes me to get better. Maybe one day I’ll be as good as “Snakebite” himself. A guy can dream, right?
