Okay, so I’ve been meaning to document my bag setup for a while, and since “Sergio Garcia WITB” (What’s in the Bag) is trending, I figured now’s the perfect time. I’m no pro, mind you, but I’m pretty serious about my game, and I’ve put a lot of thought (and, yeah, money) into my equipment.
I started by really thinking about my game. What are my strengths? Where do I struggle? What courses do I usually play? I tend to hit a draw, so I need clubs that can help me control that and not let it turn into a hook. I also wanted clubs that feel good – that solid “thwack” is just music to my ears.
Driver
- I picked up this driver last season. I went with the regular shaft, ’cause my swing speed isn’t quite what it used to be. I spent an afternoon at the local golf shop, hitting a bunch of different drivers on their launch monitor.
- I made sure that I tested several to ensure the one i finally made decision to choose.
Fairway Woods
- These were a bit of an impulse buy, I’ll admit. I saw them on sale and couldn’t resist. But honestly, they’ve been great. Really easy to launch, and I get good distance, even on mis-hits.
- After a few range sessions, i tried and tested many shots, I realized the potential.
Irons
- This is where I spent the most time researching. I read tons of reviews, watched videos, and talked to a few club fitters. I ended up going with a set of irons.
- I went to the driving range to get a feel for the different irons. Took a few swings, and I made sure everything working properly.
Wedges
- I’ve always been a bit of a wedge fanatic. I like having options around the green.
- I spent a good hour just chipping and pitching around the practice green, trying different lies and shots.
Putter
- Putting… it’s a love-hate relationship, isn’t it? I’ve gone through a few putters over the years, but I’ve settled on a classic blade style.
- I used several putters at the store, and I rolled putts for a good 30 minutes, focusing on distance control and starting the ball on line.
So, there you have it – my bag. It’s a constant work in progress, and I’m always tinkering and trying new things. I would recommend doing the same. Good luck!
