Okay, here’s my post about my experience playing Shamble golf:
So, I tried out this thing called “Shamble” in golf the other day. Never heard of it before, but it sounded interesting. Basically, we got into teams – I think we had four people on each team. Everyone tees off like normal, and then we pick the best drive out of the bunch.
That was kind of cool, it took some pressure off my terrible drive. Anyway, from there, everyone plays their own ball for the rest of the hole. We did that, walking to the spot where the best drive landed. Got our bags, picked our clubs, and then everyone started hitting their second shots.

- I shanked a few, not gonna lie.
- My buddy, Tom, was pretty consistent, though. He was our best drive most of the time.
- It was a real mix of good and bad shots.
We kept track of our own scores for each hole. It was weird because we all started from the same spot after the tee shot, but then it was like a regular game. I ended up doing okay, I guess. Nothing to brag about, but better than I usually do. I think one of the guys on the other team totally crushed it. He got a couple of birdies. Lucky shot.
The whole thing was pretty fun, I gotta say. It was nice to have that team aspect, even though we were keeping individual scores. The best part was just being out there with friends, trying something new. It was a good way to spend an afternoon.
How we scored
I should mention how we did the scoring, right? I think we used some kind of modified Stableford system. I don’t know, it was some stuff like getting more points for better scores on each hole. I didn’t quite follow, but I went along with it. Seemed like a good method for this kind of game, made it a bit more competitive, you know?
Anyway, that was my experience with Shamble. It was cool to mix things up and try a different format. I might suggest it again next time we’re looking for something new to try on the course. It was a good laugh and I got to hit some decent shots, which is always a bonus.
Oh, and a funny thing happened towards the end. On the 16th hole, a dog ran onto the fairway and grabbed Tom’s ball! We all had a good laugh about that. The dog eventually dropped it, and Tom managed to save par. Classic! I took a picture of Tom chasing the dog, what a scene.

Alright, that’s about it. Hope you enjoyed my little story. Maybe give Shamble a try sometime. If you do, let me know how it goes.
