Okay, so today I’m on day 10 of this 130-day challenge thing I started. It’s all about getting myself in gear and, you know, actually doing stuff instead of just thinking about it.
The Beginning
It all started with me feeling super blah. Like, I had all these ideas floating around in my head, things I wanted to learn, projects I wanted to start, but I just kept putting them off. Classic procrastination, right? So, I stumbled upon this idea of a longer-term challenge – 130 days, to be exact. The number felt big enough to make a real difference, but not so huge that I’d chicken out before even starting.
Getting My Butt in Gear
- First, I picked a goal. For me, it was all about getting better at web development. I’ve dabbled in it before, but I wanted to get serious.
- Then, I broke it down. 130 days is a long time, so I needed smaller milestones. I decided to focus on one specific skill or project each week.
- Next, I made a schedule. I’m not a super organized person, but I knew I needed some structure. I blocked out an hour each day, usually in the evening after work, to dedicate to this challenge.
Today’s Grind – Day 10
Today, I worked on building a simple to-do list app. Sounds basic, I know, but it’s actually a great way to practice some core concepts. I started by sketching out what I wanted it to look like – super simple, just a list of tasks with checkboxes. Then, I started coding.

I got the basic HTML structure down pretty quickly. After that, I spent some time fiddling with the CSS to make it look decent. Then, things get little bit trick, I hit a snag with the JavaScript – I couldn’t quite figure out how to make the checkboxes work properly. It was frustrating, and I definitely felt that urge to just give up and watch some TV.
Pushing Through
But, I reminded myself of the whole point of this challenge. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about showing up and putting in the effort. So, I took a deep breath, did some Googling, and finally figured it out! It was a small victory, but it felt amazing. It’s that feeling of overcoming a challenge, even a tiny one, that keeps me going.
By the end of my hour, I had a working to-do list app. It’s not pretty, and it’s definitely not perfect, but it works. And that’s what matters. I learned something new, I pushed through a moment of frustration, and I kept my commitment to myself.
Looking Ahead
120 days to go! It still feels like a long road ahead, but I’m starting to see the benefits of this whole process. It’s not just about learning web development; it’s about building discipline, proving to myself that I can stick with something, and actually making progress on my goals. One small step at a time, I’m building some cool stuff, but I’m also building some confidence, it is really excited.
