Okay, let’s talk about getting ready for LSU game days. It’s become kind of a ritual, really. It’s not just throwing on any old thing, you gotta represent, right? Purple and gold, loud and proud.
Figuring Out the Basics
First thing I always do, seriously, is check the weather. Down here, it can be scorching hot one Saturday and surprisingly chilly the next, especially later in the season. That weather app is my best friend leading up to game day. Knowing if it’s gonna be 95 degrees and humid or maybe a cool 60 degrees changes everything.
Once I know what I’m up against weather-wise, I head to the closet. It’s usually a bit of an excavation project. I start pulling out anything remotely purple or gold. T-shirts, old jerseys, maybe a button-down, shorts, jeans, you name it. It all gets tossed onto the bed.
- LSU graphic tees (got a collection)
- Plain purple shirts
- Gold-colored tops (harder to find good ones!)
- Jerseys (an old favorite usually makes the cut)
- Denim shorts or jeans (depending on the heat)
- Sometimes a simple purple dress if I feel like it
Putting an Outfit Together
This is where the real work begins. I start mixing and matching. If it’s hot, it’s usually gonna be shorts and a breathable top. I learned the hard way about wearing thick cotton on those September game days. Never again. I grabbed a lightweight LSU t-shirt and my most comfortable denim shorts for the last early-season game.
Comfort is super important. You’re walking, you’re standing for hours, you’re high-fiving (hopefully a lot). Those cute but tight jeans? Nope. Those heels? Definitely not for walking across campus and standing in the stadium. I stick to comfy sneakers or maybe some broken-in boots if it’s cooler.
I try things on. Look in the mirror. Does this purple clash with this gold? Is it too much? Sometimes simple is better. A good fitting LSU tee, decent shorts or jeans, and comfy shoes. Can’t really go wrong.
For cooler weather games, it’s easier to layer up. Maybe jeans, a purple long-sleeve tee, and I’ve got this decent LSU hoodie I throw on top. Or sometimes I’ll wear a gold scarf or beanie just to get that color pop without overheating if I’m inside somewhere.
Accessorizing and Final Touches
Accessories are key for me. Even with a simple t-shirt and jeans, adding a little extra makes it feel more like a ‘game day outfit’.

- My go-to LSU baseball cap. Keeps the sun off and shows spirit.
- Simple gold hoops or maybe some purple beaded earrings. Nothing too dangly or annoying.
- A clear stadium bag is a must now, so I make sure whatever I bring fits in that. Usually just my phone, keys, small wallet.
- Maybe some fun purple and gold face stickers if I’m feeling extra festive.
So yeah, I just kinda play around with the pieces I pulled out. I see what feels right for that specific game day. Am I mostly tailgating? Sitting in the sun? Going to a friend’s watch party? It all factors in. Eventually, I land on something that feels comfortable, looks decent enough, and screams GEAUX TIGERS! It’s not rocket science, just a matter of digging through what I have and making it work for the day. Ended up wearing that tee and shorts combo last time, felt good all day.
