So, the other day I was messing around, and this random thought popped into my head: “I wonder how many days are in 87 years?” Don’t ask me why, it just did. So, I decided to figure it out.
The Quick and Dirty Way
First, I grabbed my phone’s calculator. I know, not exactly rocket science. I started by doing the simple thing: 87 years times 365 days a year.
- 87 365 = 31,755
Okay, that gives us 31,755 days. But, wait a second… I remembered something about those pesky leap years.

Remembering Leap Years
We all know that every four years, we get an extra day in February, right? So I was thinking about how to handle these leap years.
I quickly figured I needed to find how many leap years were in that 87-year span. My thought was to divide that number by 4.
- 87 / 4 = 21.75
I know there are 21 leap days to add to total days.
Putting It All Together
Finally, I just add these days into the first answer I got before:
- 31,755 + 21 = 31,776
There you go! 87 years is about 31,776 days, give or take. It wasn’t exactly a major project, but it was a fun little mental exercise. Sometimes it’s the random questions that are the most interesting to solve!
