Okay, so today I wanted to figure out how tall something was, and the measurement I had was in feet – 3.21 feet, to be exact. I’m more used to thinking in metric, so I needed to do a little conversion.
Getting Started
First, I grabbed my phone – gotta love having a calculator always handy! I knew I needed to convert this to something I understood better, like centimeters or meters.
Doing the Math
I remembered that one foot is about 0.3048 meters. I punched in 3.21 0.3048 into the calculator. Simple enough, right?

- Multiply the feet (3.21) by the conversion factor (0.3048).
The Result
The calculator showed me 0.978408. So, 3.21 feet is roughly 0.98 meters. That’s a little under a meter, which makes sense to me. If I wanted centimeters, I’d just move the decimal point two places to the right – so about 98 centimeters.
It’s not rocket science, but it’s always good to double-check these things. Now I can picture how tall 3.21 feet really is!
