Okay, so I wanted to dig into Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and really see how status affects everything. I mean, it’s a comedy, but there’s a lot of social climbing and mistaken identity, right? So I figured the best way to do this was to find some quotes that really highlight the importance of status in the play.
First, I re-read the play. Seriously, it’s been a while since high school, so I needed a refresher. I grabbed my old copy and just started reading, keeping an eye out for anything that seemed relevant.
Finding the Good Stuff
Next, I started hunting for specific quotes. I used a couple of websites, I just keep searching by google. And, of course, I went back to the text itself, flipping pages and scanning for key phrases. I was looking for lines that talked about rank, class, or even just how characters addressed each other.

Here’s what I found, and how I organized it:
- I jotted down each quote I thought was important.
- Then, I tried to group them by character or theme. Like, did the quote show someone trying to rise in status? Or maybe it showed how someone used their status to get what they wanted?
- I also make sure to keep the full * that changes the read on any quote.
Putting It All Together
Finally, I took all those quotes and my notes and started writing. It shows the result of my work.I wanted to show not just what the quotes were, but why they mattered. How did they show the power of status in the play’s world?
It is fun to share what I learned, and it’s a good pratice for me.
