Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “Tom Brady draft picture” meme floating around everywhere, and I finally decided to dive in and figure out what all the fuss was about. I mean, we all know Tom Brady as this legendary, super-successful quarterback, but apparently, he wasn’t always the golden boy.
First, I just did a quick search for “Tom Brady draft picture.” And wow, the images that popped up! It’s this skinny, kinda awkward-looking guy in a combine photo. Seriously, he looks nothing like the Brady we know now. It’s almost hard to believe it’s the same person.
Then, I got to thinking about, how accurate I want the photo to be, and it needs to be perfect. I wanted to know, what was the year that he was even in the photo!

So,I did some deep dive and found out that Tom Brady was drafted in the year 2000. The number was 199, which is crazy to think about how late that is.
I started digging a little deeper. I wanted to see if I could find any videos or articles from that time, just to get a sense of the atmosphere.
- I watched a couple of old ESPN clips of the draft. It’s so weird to see how different the coverage was back then.
- I also found some scouting reports from that era. Most of them were pretty lukewarm on Brady. They talked about his lack of mobility and arm strength. It’s wild to read those now, knowing everything he went on to achieve.
After, I was able to watch those clips, I knew I found the right images and videos, so I searched “Tom Brady draft 2000.” And, yup! There were tons of photos of him.
So, I saved a few of the best (or worst, depending on how you look at it) photos. I’m thinking of maybe using one as my profile picture for a bit, just for laughs.
