Alright, let’s talk about what went down between early July and early September. It feels like a long stretch now, looking back. I decided I needed to buckle down and actually do something I’d been putting off. It wasn’t anything fancy, just something practical I wanted to get a handle on.
Getting Started (Early July)
So, around July 9th, I finally cleared my desk, metaphorically speaking. Pulled out all the notes I’d scribbled, the ideas I had saved. It was a mess. Honestly, the first few days were just sorting things out. Figuring out where to even begin. I remember spending a whole afternoon just trying to outline a basic plan. Felt kind of silly, planning to plan, but it had to be done. I grabbed the essentials, the basic tools for this task, and just told myself, “Okay, start small.”
The Grind (Mid-July to August)
Then came the actual work. Man, it was slow going at first. You know how you think something will be straightforward? Yeah, it wasn’t. I’d try one approach, hit a wall. Try another, same thing. Lots of trial and error.

- Spent a good week just wrestling with the initial setup. Things just wouldn’t click.
- Then I hit a snag with getting different parts to work together. That took ages. Felt like banging my head against a wall.
- There were days I just wanted to chuck the whole thing. Real frustration, you know?
But, slowly, things started moving. Little breakthroughs. I remember finally getting one tricky bit working around late July. Didn’t throw a party, but it felt good. Like, “Okay, maybe I can figure this out.” August was mostly about refining. Going back over stuff, fixing the clumsy bits, making it a bit more solid. Still wasn’t pretty, but it was progress. Found myself working late some nights, not because I had to, but because I was finally in the groove, didn’t want to stop.
Wrapping Up (Early September)
By the time September rolled around, specifically around the 8th, I wasn’t “done” done. You’re never really done, are you? But I’d reached a decent stopping point. The main thing I set out to do was, well, done. It worked. Maybe not perfectly, maybe not elegantly, but it functioned.
Looking back at the whole period, from 7.9 to 9.8, it was a grind. Lots of small steps, lots of setbacks, a few moments of clarity. I didn’t follow the initial plan perfectly – had to adapt quite a bit. Learned that flexibility is key. And persistence. Just keep chipping away at it. So yeah, that was my practice period. Not glamorous, just putting in the time and seeing what came out the other end. It’s something, anyway.
