Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with cars for a while now, and I recently decided to tackle a clutch issue. Specifically, I went with a South Bend clutch. I’d heard good things about them, so I figured, why not give it a shot?
The car’s been aiming for around 330 horsepower, give or take. It’s a fun project, you know? Anyway, the old clutch was starting to show its age, especially after I did a transmission swap back in July. So, I started looking into replacements. Scoured through a bunch of forums, checked out what people were saying, and South Bend kept popping up. They seemed like the real deal.
I ended up ordering the South Bend Stage 2 Daily clutch kit. It came with a single mass flywheel, which I thought was pretty cool. Installation day rolled around last Monday, and I got to work. It wasn’t too bad, honestly. Their stuff is designed with some kind of leverage ratio tech and uses good friction material. They say it handles more torque without making the pedal feel like you’re doing leg presses, which is a plus. I also replaced the worn forks while I was at it, just to make sure everything was solid.

After getting it all in, I started the break-in process. You gotta take it easy for the first 500 miles or so. No crazy driving, just smooth and steady. I hit that 500-mile mark recently, and let me tell you, it’s been pretty smooth. Right now, the car’s running a Cobb Stage 1+ 93 octane tune, and it feels great with the new clutch.
Here’s a quick rundown:
- Goal: Get the car to around 330whp/tq.
- Problem: Old clutch was worn out after a transmission swap.
- Solution: Installed a South Bend Stage 2 Daily clutch kit with a single mass flywheel.
- Process: Replaced the clutch and worn forks, then did a 500-mile break-in.
- Result: Car feels great with the new clutch and tune.
All in all, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. The South Bend clutch seems to be living up to the hype. It’s handling the power well, and the pedal feel is definitely better than I expected. If you’re thinking about a clutch upgrade, I’d say it’s worth checking them out.
