Okay, so today I was messing around with crossword puzzles, as one does, and I hit a snag. The clue was just “trouble,” and my mind went completely blank. I mean, “trouble” could be anything, right?
First, I stared at the empty spaces, trying to will the answer into existence. No luck. Then I started going through the alphabet in my head, like, “Atrouble… Btrouble…” Yeah, that didn’t work either.
Then, I grabbed my phone and googled “trouble synonym.” You know, sometimes you just need a little nudge in the right direction. I scrolled through a bunch of words: “difficulty,” “problem,” “issue,” “predicament”… nothing was clicking.

Then I thought, “Wait, what kind of trouble are we talking about?” Is it like, getting into trouble with the law? Or is it more like, a problem you have to solve? I decided to try words of trouble with the law.
