Okay, here’s my blog post about my “lsu jumper” experience, written in a casual, personal style:
So, I’ve been trying to make this “lsu jumper” thing work. It all started when I saw some video online, and thought, “Hey, I can do that!” Famous last words, right?
First, I gathered my materials. I figured I needed some decent fabric – not too flimsy, not too stiff. Went to the local store, spent way longer than I thought I would just staring at bolts of cloth. Ended up with this purplish, almost-gold stuff. Looked LSU-ish enough for me.

Then came the cutting. Oh boy. I’m no expert with scissors, let me tell you. I printed out a super basic pattern I found – basically just a big rectangle with some armholes. Traced it onto the fabric with some chalk, and… snip, snip, snip. It looked… rough. Like, really rough. My lines were all wobbly, and I think one side was definitely longer than the other.
- Mistake #1: Should’ve used sharper scissors.
- Mistake #2: Maybe I should have practiced on some scrap fabric first.
Sewing attempt
Next up, sewing. Now, I own a sewing machine. I’ve used it, like, twice. Mostly for hemming pants. This was a whole different ballgame. I threaded the thing – after watching a YouTube video about five times – and started stitching the sides together.
It… did not go well, first I made a mistake, and then I try again. The thread kept bunching up, the fabric was sliding all over the place, and at one point, I’m pretty sure I sewed the armhole shut. Oops. I ripped out a bunch of seams, re-sewed them, and finally managed to get something that vaguely resembled a jumper.
I tried it on. It… fit. Sort of. It was definitely lopsided, and the neckline was way bigger than I intended, but hey, it was wearable! I even added a little iron-on LSU patch I had lying around, just to make it official.
Overall, it’s not perfect. It’s probably not even good. But I made it. And that’s kinda cool, right? Maybe I’ll try again someday, with better scissors, more patience, and maybe a slightly less ambitious pattern. But for now, I’m calling this a (slightly wonky) win!
