Okay, so I’ve been seeing “golf knickers” pop up all over my Pinterest and golf forums lately. I thought they looked kinda cool, a bit retro, but I wasn’t sure if I could pull them off. I decided, what the heck, let’s give it a shot!
First, I searched around for some. This was surprisingly harder than I thought! A lot of places just had regular golf pants or shorts. Finally, I found a couple of online stores that actually carried them.
Finding the Right Pair
- I looked at several styles – some were super traditional, almost like old-timey baseball pants, and others were a little more modern, with a slimmer fit.
- I checked the materials. Some were made of that classic, heavy wool, which I figured would be way too hot for a Texas summer. I opted for a lighter, breathable blend – something with cotton and maybe a little spandex for stretch.
- Color was the next big decision. I almost went for a classic khaki, but then I saw a pair in a really cool, muted navy blue and decided to be a little bolder.
The First Try-On
When they arrived, I ripped open the package (maybe a little too eagerly!). I slipped them on, and… well, it was interesting. They definitely felt different than anything I’d worn before. The elastic at the bottom, just below the knee, took some getting used to.

I did find the fit to be a bit challenging. The sizing charts did help find the right size of knickers for me.
The Golf Course Test
The real test, of course, was wearing them on the course. I paired them with a simple white polo shirt and some argyle socks (I figured I might as well go all-in with the look!).
- Honestly, I felt pretty good! They were surprisingly comfortable, and I had plenty of room to move during my swing.
- I did get a few curious looks, and one guy even asked me if I was going to a costume party. But most people just gave me a nod and a smile.
- The best part? They were actually pretty practical. The shorter length kept me cooler than my usual long pants, and the elastic at the bottom prevented them from getting caught on anything.
The Verdict?
I’m a convert! I actually really like wearing golf knickers. They’re comfortable, they look kinda sharp, and they’re a fun way to add a little personality to my golf game. I might even invest in another pair, maybe in a bolder color next time! I think others might find them useful and comfortable, too.
