Okay, so I wanted to make a fun little cartoon image about the Georgia vs. Mississippi State game. I’m no artist, but I figured I could give it a shot. First, I grabbed my iPad and opened up Procreate. I’ve used it a few times before, so I’m not totally clueless.
I started by sketching out some ideas. I knew I wanted to include the mascots, so I did a rough drawing of a bulldog (for Georgia, obviously) and… well, another bulldog (for Mississippi State). It’s kinda funny they’re both bulldogs, right?
Brainstorming the Scene
- Idea 1: Both bulldogs playing tug-of-war with a football. Classic, but maybe a little boring?
- Idea 2: One bulldog chasing the other, maybe with a comical expression. Could be funnier.
- Idea 3: The bulldogs facing each other, ready to rumble, with the team logos behind them. This seemed like the best option for a simple, clear image.
I went with the third idea. Seemed like it had the most potential, and I wanted something I could actually finish, ha!

The Drawing Process
I started with some really basic shapes for the bodies. Lots of circles and ovals. Think of a potato with legs. Then, I slowly added details, like the faces, ears, and paws. I kept erasing and redrawing – it definitely wasn’t perfect on the first try (or the tenth!).
The faces were the hardest part. Trying to make them look tough, but also kinda cartoonish, took some time. I looked at some pictures of bulldogs online for reference, which helped a bit. I gave one a determined, furrowed brow, and the other a sort of goofy, confident grin.
Adding Color and Details
Once I was happy with the outlines, I started coloring. I used the team colors – red and black for Georgia, and maroon and white for Mississippi State. I filled in the bodies, then added some shading to give them a bit more dimension. I’m no expert on shading, but I tried to make it look like the light was coming from one direction.
Then came the backgrounds. I just did simple blocks of color behind each bulldog, using their team colors. I put the team’s logos on it.
The Final Touches
Finally, I added a few extra details, like some grass at their feet and a few lines to show movement. I also added a little speech bubble above each bulldog. One said “Go Dawgs!” and the other said “Hail State!” Just to make it extra clear who they were rooting for.

It’s not going to win any awards, but it was a fun little project! Took me a couple of hours, and it’s definitely not perfect, but I’m pretty happy with how my Georgia vs. Mississippi State cartoon turned out.
