Okay, so the other day I was just messing around, looking up some golf stuff online, and I came across this guy, Rob McNamara. Never heard of him before, but I got curious and started digging around a bit. Turns out, this Rob guy is pretty involved in the golf world.
I started by watching some videos about him. First thing I noticed, he’s been at this Farmington Country Club for like, 24 years. 24 years! That’s some serious dedication. It seems like he’s built up quite the reputation there, doing things his own way. It wasn’t just one thing I did, I watched a bunch of stuff. In one video, they were talking about how he uses this 9-box grid thing. Sounds a bit complicated, but apparently, it’s some special way to practice long shots and tees. And get this, Tiger Woods uses it too. If it’s good enough for Tiger, it’s probably worth checking out, right?
- First, I watched videos about Rob McNamara and his experience.
- Then, I read up on the techniques he uses and teaches.
- Finally, I spent some time practicing the 9-box grid myself.
So, after watching and reading, I decided I had to try this stuff out myself. I went down to the local driving range with my clubs and a bucket of balls. I’m no pro, but I’ve been playing for a few years, so I’m not a total newbie either. I spent a good couple of hours trying to get the hang of this grid system. It’s definitely different. You gotta focus on where you’re aiming and how you’re swinging.

My Practice Session
I started off pretty shaky, not gonna lie. Balls were going all over the place. But I kept at it, trying to remember what I’d learned. Slowly but surely, I started to see some improvement. My shots were getting a bit more consistent, and I could feel myself getting a better sense of control. It’s all about making the swing easy and smooth, not trying to kill the ball every time. Even found some quick lesson about how cutting grass is the best way to think about your swing. Keep it simple, folks!
By the end of the day, I was feeling pretty good. I wouldn’t say I’m ready to challenge Tiger Woods or anything, but I definitely felt like I learned something new. This Rob McNamara guy, he’s onto something. I’m gonna keep practicing this stuff and see where it takes me. Who knows, maybe I’ll even head out to Farmington Country Club someday and see the man himself in action.
