Okay, so today I was trying to figure out this whole “Reggie Jackson NFL” thing. I kept seeing the name pop up, and I was like, “Wait, isn’t Reggie Jackson a baseball guy?” Turns out, I was right… and wrong.
Digging into It
First, I hit up the search engines. I just typed in “Reggie Jackson NFL” and started scrolling. I saw a bunch of stuff about the baseball legend, Mr. October, you know? But then, I noticed some results talking about a different Reggie Jackson, a football player.
I started clicking around, trying to piece it all together. It was a bit confusing at first because, obviously, the baseball Reggie Jackson is way more famous.

My findings
- I found out there’s this other Reggie Jackson, who played defensive back in the NFL.
- I learned he was with the Kansas City Chiefs for the preseason in 1989. He was also with the Ottawa Rough Riders in 1990.
- I discovered that he did not actually play in any regular season games.
So, basically, my initial confusion was totally understandable! There are two Reggie Jacksons, but only one is a household name. This other Reggie Jackson had a short stint in the NFL, and that’s why it’s kinda tricky to find info on him. Mystery solved!
