Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get into golf for a while now. I always thought it looked kinda boring, but a buddy of mine convinced me to give it a shot. He’s a huge Yankees fan, and he found this Yankees-themed golf stuff online. Figured, why not? Let’s do this.
Getting Started
First things first, I needed some gear. I didn’t want to spend a ton of money since I wasn’t even sure if I’d like it. My friend, let’s call him Joe, he’s a seasoned golfer, so I trusted his recommendations. And, Of course, it had to be Yankees-branded.
- Clubs: Joe suggested starting with a used set. Found some decent ones online, nothing fancy.
- Balls: Got a box of used balls, too. Joe said I’d lose a lot at first, and he was right! I Also got a small pack of Yankees logo golf balls.
- Tees: Grabbed a bag of those wooden tees. Simple enough.
- Yankees Gear: This is where it got fun. Found a Yankees golf towel, a Yankees ball marker, and even a Yankees-themed divot repair tool. Joe got a good laugh out of that.
Hitting the Range
We went to a local driving range. Joe gave me some basic pointers. He showed me how to grip the club, how to stand, and the basic swing motion. It felt awkward, to be honest. My first few swings? Total whiffs. I completely missed the ball.

Then, I started to connect. Not great, but I was hitting the ball! It mostly went sideways, not very far, but hey, progress! The Yankees towel came in handy to wipe the sweat off my hands – it was a hot day.
On the Course (Sort Of)
After a few range sessions, we decided to try a par-3 course. It’s basically a shorter version of a real golf course, perfect for beginners like me.
I used my Yankees ball marker and divot tool – felt kinda cool, even though my game was anything but. I lost a few of those Yankees balls in the water hazards, which was a bummer. But, I managed to get the ball in the hole… eventually. My score was… well, let’s just say it was high. Very high.
My Takeaway
Golf is harder than it looks! It’s frustrating, but also kinda addictive. There’s something satisfying about hitting a good shot, even if it’s only one out of ten. And doing it with a little Yankees flair made it a bit more fun. I’m definitely going to keep practicing. I might even invest in some lessons. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll actually be good at this!
And the Yankees gear? It added a little fun to the whole experience. Now I have those small little momentums to keep with me, as I continue my golf journey!
