Okay, so I’ve been messing around with putters lately, trying to find one that really clicks. I saw this “Ping Zing” thing online and figured, why not give it a shot? I mean, Ping has a good reputation, right?
Getting My Hands on One
First things first, I needed to actually get a Ping Zing putter. I looked around online, checked a few local golf shops…nothing. Seems like these things are either super popular or kinda old. Ended up finding one on a used club site. It wasn’t in perfect condition, a few scratches here and there, but the price was right, so I pulled the trigger.
First Impressions
When it arrived, I was pretty excited. It felt…different. The weight distribution was something I wasn’t used to. The head felt heavier than my old putter, and the grip was a bit worn, but that’s to be expected with a used club.

Testing It Out
I took it to the putting green at my local course. Spent a good hour just messing around, trying to get a feel for it. Here’s what I noticed:
- Alignment: The Zing has this line on the top that’s supposed to help with alignment. Honestly, I didn’t find it that much different from other putters.
- Roll: This is where it got interesting. The ball seemed to roll smoother off the face. I don’t know if it’s the design, the material, or just in my head, but it felt…good.
- Distance Control: This was the trickiest part. Because of the heavier head, I was initially sending putts way past the hole. Took some getting used to. I really had to lighten up my stroke.
Making Adjustments
After that first session, I decided to make a few changes:
- I put a new grip. I feel very good when I hold it.
- I spent more time to practice controlling the distance.
The Verdict (So Far)
I’ve been using the Ping Zing for a few weeks now. It’s definitely not a magic wand. I’m still missing putts, still three-putting occasionally. But… I’m also making more putts than I used to. My distance control is getting better, and I feel more confident over those short, tricky putts.
I’m going to keep practicing with it. It’s a solid putter, and I think it has the potential to really improve my game. It might not be for everyone, but for me, it’s been a worthwhile experiment.
