Okay, so I was messing around with this crossword puzzle, you know, one of those 7 Little Words things. And I got totally stuck on this one clue: “Pick up at the store”. My brain just went blank. I mean, I kept thinking, “Grab? Get? Fetch?” None of them fit!
So, I started trying to think of every single word related to shopping. I went through the whole process in my head. I walked into the imaginary store, browsed the aisles, selected my items…still nothing. Then it became about paying. Paid? Nope, too short. Checked out? Nah. I was getting frustrated!
The “Aha!” Moment
- I considered synonyms.
- I looked up for some online clues.
- Finally,I typed the clue.
Then I went online, because, let’s be honest, who actually solves these things without a little help sometimes? I started Googling, trying different combinations of words. And boom! There it was, plain as day: “Picked up at the store” – the answer was “PURCHASED”. Nine letters, perfect fit. I literally slapped my forehead. Of course! How did I not think of that?

It’s funny how the simplest words can trip you up. I was so focused on action verbs that I completely missed the most obvious one. I finished that crossword, feeling pretty smug, I gotta admit. And I learned a valuable lesson: sometimes, you just gotta step back and look at the bigger picture…or, you know, just Google it.
