Okay, so I was looking to switch things up a bit, career-wise. I’ve always been a huge racing fan, and Penske Racing, well, they’re like the top dogs. So, I thought, “Why not see if they’re hiring?” That’s how it all started.
Digging for Gold
First, I fired up my laptop. No fancy job boards for me just yet. I went straight to the source – Penske’s main website.
I scrolled all the way to the bottom, looking for that tiny “Careers” link. Found it!

Clicking that took me to another page, all about working at Penske. Nice pictures, some text about their values, the usual stuff.
Getting Specific
I wanted racing jobs, though, not just any Penske job. So, I looked for a way to filter or search. there! A section specifically for Penske Racing. Bingo!
Another click, and I was looking at a whole list of openings. Some were for engineers, some for mechanics, even some marketing positions. Lots of options!
Narrowing It Down
I’m more of a hands-on, data-driven kind of guy. So, those engineering roles caught my eye. I saw one for a “Performance Engineer” and thought, “That sounds interesting.”
I clicked on the job description. It was pretty detailed – talking about analyzing data, working with the drivers, all that cool stuff. It also listed the requirements, like needing a degree in engineering and some experience in motorsports.

Reality Check
Honestly, after reading through it, I realized I might be a bit underqualified for that specific role. I mean, I love racing, but I don’t have an engineering degree.
But hey, that doesn’t mean there’s nothing for me. I went back to the list and started looking at some of the other openings. Maybe something in the shop, or even something on the business side that uses my existing skills.
The important thing is, I took the first step. I explored the possibilities, and I got a better understanding of what Penske Racing looks for. Even if I don’t land a job there tomorrow, I’ve got a clearer picture of what I need to work towards. And that’s a win in my book.
