Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “pearl moore” thing popping up all over my socials, and I finally decided to give it a shot. Honestly, I had no idea what to expect, but it looked kinda cool, so why not?
Getting Started
First, I googled “pearl moore” to even figure out what it was. Turns out, it’s some kind of design trend, maybe? I’m still not 100% sure, but it involves creating these, like, iridescent, pearly effects on, well, anything, I guess. Most of the examples I saw were on digital art, so I figured I’d start there.
My First Attempt (and Many Fails)
I opened up my trusty drawing app – the one I always use, nothing fancy. I started with a simple circle, just to get a feel for it. Then, I spent a good hour just messing around with different brushes and colors. I tried a bunch of gradients, some blending modes I barely understood, and a whole lot of undoing. It was a mess. Everything looked either muddy or just…weird. Not pearly at all.

I almost gave up, but then I remembered seeing some tutorials. Back to Google I went.
Learning the Ropes (Sort Of)
I watched a couple of videos – some were super helpful, others were way over my head. But I picked up a few key things:
- Layering is key. You can’t just slap on one color and expect it to look magical.
- Light and shadow. It’s all about creating the illusion of depth and that shimmery surface.
- Don’t be afraid to experiment. This one is pretty much my life motto anyway.
Finally, Some Progress!
Armed with my newfound (and very basic) knowledge, I went back to my drawing app. This time, I started with a light base color, then added darker shades to create shadows, and used a lighter, almost white color for highlights. I played around with the opacity of each layer, blending them together until it started to look… well, not terrible!
It still wasn’t perfect, but I could see the pearly effect starting to emerge. It was like, a very faint glimmer, but it was there! I kept tweaking and adjusting, and slowly but surely, my little circle started to look more like a pearl and less like a blob.
My “Pearl Moore” Masterpiece (Not Really)
Okay, “masterpiece” is a strong word. But I was pretty proud of my little pearly circle. I even added a subtle background to make it pop. It’s not going to win any awards, but it was a fun experiment, and I definitely learned something new.

I saved my creation, and I might even try to use this technique on something more ambitious next time. Maybe a whole pearly… something. I haven’t decided yet. But hey, that’s the fun of it, right?
