Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with creating a “darts trophy” – you know, something fun and maybe a little silly to give out at our next game night. I didn’t really have a solid plan, just a vague idea and a bunch of random stuff in my craft bin.
Gathering Supplies
First things first, I dug through my supplies. I found:
- An old wooden plaque – score!
- Some leftover gold spray paint from a previous project.
- A pack of cheap plastic darts (the kind with the blunt tips, safety first!).
- A hot glue gun – my trusty crafting companion.
- Some random ribbon scraps.
Prepping the Base
I started by giving the wooden plaque a good sanding down. It was pretty rough, and I wanted a smooth surface for the paint. Then, I took it outside and gave it a couple of coats of the gold spray paint. It looked pretty fancy already, even if I do say so myself.

Adding the Darts
Once the paint was completely dry (I waited a good few hours, just to be sure), I started arranging the darts on the plaque. I played around with a few different layouts – some pointing up, some fanned out. I ended up going with a simple, symmetrical design, with three darts pointing upwards.
Then, it was time for the hot glue. I put a generous dollop on the back of each dart and stuck them firmly onto the plaque. I held each one in place for a minute or so, just to make sure the glue had a good grip.
Finishing Touches
It looked pretty good, but it needed a little something extra. I grabbed some of the ribbon scraps and tied a simple bow around the base of the darts. It added a nice pop of color and made it look a bit more, well, trophy-like.
And that was it! My DIY darts trophy was complete. It’s not exactly professional-looking, but it’s got character, and it’ll definitely get a laugh. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, especially considering it was made with stuff I just had lying around.
I placed darts trophy on my desk.

Mission accomplished!
