Okay, so today I decided to get back on the field and mess around with a soccer ball. It’s been a while, and I wanted to see if I still had any moves. I figured I’d focus on some basic drills, just to get the feel of the ball again.
Getting Started
First things first, I needed to find my old soccer ball. Dug around in the garage and, thankfully, found it tucked away in a corner. It was a little deflated, so I pumped it up. Felt good to have it back in my hands.
Warm-up
Before getting into anything fancy, I knew I had to warm up. Did some light jogging around the yard, some stretches – you know, the usual. Didn’t want to pull a muscle before I even got started!

Basic Drills
- Dribbling: Just started by walking and kicking the ball gently, trying to keep it close. Then I picked up the pace a bit, dribbling around the yard, trying to keep control.
- Passing: Set up a couple of markers (actually just used some old shoes) and practiced passing the ball back and forth between them. Worked on accuracy and power.
- Shooting: Used a wall as a makeshift goal and practiced shooting. Tried different angles and distances, just to get a feel for it again.
Cool Down
After the shooting session, I was really feeling, so I start to cool down.
After about an hour, I was pretty tired. Did some more stretches to cool down and called it a day. It wasn’t anything amazing, but it felt great to be out there, kicking the ball around again. Definitely need to do this more often!
