Okay, so today I decided to tackle this “lopsided contest” thing from the NYT. I’d seen it floating around, and, well, I’m a sucker for a good puzzle. It all started this morning, I poured myself with coffee and started.
First, I found the actual contest page. It wasn’t super obvious, It’s more simple word games.
Once I got there, I read through the instructions. Pretty straightforward: you’re given clues, and you have to fill in the answers, which are all, you know, lopsided.

I started working through the clues. Some were easy, I filled those, no problem. It felt good to get a few quick wins under my belt!
- Some clues, I just stared at the screen.
- I scribbled some ideas on a scrap of paper.
- I even googled a couple of things when I was truly stuck.
My “Aha!” Moment
I got about halfway through and then…BAM! I figured out one of the really tricky ones. It was like a lightbulb went off. After that, I had a new momentum.
I kept plugging away, filling in more and more of the grid. I gotta say, it’s satisfying to see those letters fall into place.
Finally, I finished it! I double-checked all my answers, just to be sure. And there it was, a completed, lopsided grid. It’s a good start of today!
I submitted my answers. I’m not expecting to win anything, but hey, it was fun! It was a good mental workout, and who knows, maybe I’ll get lucky. If you’re looking for a little brain teaser, give it a shot!
