Okay, so, I wanted to dig into this whole thing about famous white basketball players. You know, get a good list going. First off, I fired up my computer and hit up Google. Just typed in “famous white basketball players” in the search bar. I mean, that’s the obvious first step, right?
The search results were massive. I mean, tons of websites, articles, and lists popped up. I started clicking through a few of them, just skimming, trying to get a feel for who kept coming up. It was a lot of the same names, which was good, meant I was on the right track.
After browsing a bit, I decided to make my own list. Grabbed a pen and a piece of paper—yeah, I’m old school like that—and started jotting down names. Larry Bird, John Stockton, Jerry West, those were the no-brainers, the ones everyone talks about. But then I got into some others that were mentioned a lot, like Kevin McHale and Bob Cousy. I even threw in some newer guys, like Dirk Nowitzki, just to keep it interesting.

Next, I figured I should organize this mess. I split the list into different eras. You know, the old-timers, the 80s and 90s guys, and then the more recent players. Made it easier to see who was big when. I also made a note of what made them stand out, like Bird’s shooting or Stockton’s assists. Just little things I picked up from reading about them.
Then I had an idea, I wanted to see if there were any patterns. So, I looked at what positions these guys played. Turns out, a lot of them were forwards or guards. Not many centers on my list. Also, I checked out where they were from. Lots of Americans, obviously, but also a good number of Europeans, which was pretty cool to see.

It’s not perfect, I’m sure I missed some folks, but it’s a good starting point, and maybe I will dig deeper and find out more in the future.
