Okay, so I’ve been tearing my hair out all week trying to decide who to start at tight end: Kendricks or Smith? It’s week 5, and my fantasy team is hanging by a thread. I needed to make the right call, or it’s bye-bye playoffs.
First, I hit up all the usual websites. you know. I checked their projected points, read all the expert analysis (which, let’s be honest, is 50/50 at best), and compared their matchups.
- Kendricks: Facing a tough defense, but he’s been getting a decent amount of targets lately.
- Smith: More of a boom-or-bust player. He could get you 20 points, or he could get you 2.
I spent hours I am watching old game footage, trying to get a feel for how each player was being used. I looked their targets, red zone.

I even dug through some obscure fantasy football * “experts” were all over the place. Some were screaming “Start Kendricks, he’s the safer bet!” Others were pounding the table for Smith, saying his upside was too good to ignore.
Making the Decision
Finally, after much internal debate (and a few near-panic attacks), I made my choice. I went with… Kendricks! My gut just told me he was the slightly less risky play this week. Smith has the higher ceiling, yes, but Kendricks felt more consistent, and I desperately needed consistency.
I set my lineup, and then I waited. Game day was torture! Every time the other team’s tight end caught a pass, I felt a pang of regret. It’s a roller coaster, I tell you!
In the end, Kendricks put up a respectable 8 points. Not amazing, but not a disaster either. Smith? He ended up with 4. So, I made the right call… by a hair! It wasn’t pretty, but a win’s a win, right? Now, onto the next week’s headache…
