Okay, so “Karl Malone 2024” – sounds like a joke, right? But I got curious. I mean, the basketball player? Running for office? I had to check it out.
Digging Around
First, I hit up the usual spots – you know, Google News, Twitter. Nothing. Just a bunch of old basketball highlights and some fan pages. Seemed weird, so I broadened my search. I typed in “Karl Malone political aspirations,” “Karl Malone running for office,” and every variation I could think of.
Still mostly crickets. I did find a couple of really old articles talking about his political views way back when, but nothing recent. No announcements, no campaign websites, nothing.
Checking the Official Stuff
This is where it got a little more serious. I figured, if he’s actually running, there’d be some record, right? So, I went to the Federal Election Commission website (FEC). They have this database where you can search for candidates.
I typed in “Karl Malone,” held my breath… and… nothing. No filings, no committees, no nothing. This pretty much confirmed it for me: he’s not running for anything major, at least not on a federal level.
Possible, but Unlikely…
I could check the state, even though it’s not very likely. Then I found out I also need to check out the election websites. After all I did above, I think I would be able to get nothing.
My Conclusion (For Now)
Based on my little investigation, I’m pretty confident saying Karl Malone isn’t running for any major office in 2024. It was probably a meme, a rumor, or maybe someone just dreaming. I mean, it’s fun to think about, but it doesn’t seem to be based in reality. If anything changes, I’ll definitely be updating this, but for now, it looks like “The Mailman” is staying off the campaign trail.
