Trying Out That Gambler Stuff
Okay, so I decided to give this Gambler tobacco a whirl. Heard some folks talking about it, mostly how cheap it is, you know? Figured I’d see what the fuss was about myself. Went down to the local smoke shop, the one on the corner that always smells kinda weird, and grabbed a pouch. Think I picked up the regular one, maybe the red pouch? Yeah, pretty sure it was the red one.
Got back home, sat down at my usual spot on the porch. Ripped the pouch open. First thing, it smelled… well, like tobacco. Nothing fancy, kinda straightforward. It felt a bit dry maybe, compared to some pipe tobaccos I’ve tried before, but not totally brittle. More like it was ready to be rolled, which makes sense, ’cause I know a lot of people use this stuff for RYO – roll your own cigarettes.
Getting it Ready

So, I pulled out my trusty rolling papers and a filter. Took a pinch of the Gambler. It wasn’t super stringy, more like little chopped bits. Made it kinda easy to spread evenly on the paper, gotta give it that. Didn’t have too much trouble getting it packed just right, not too tight, not too loose. Rolled it up, lickety-split. Looked like a decent enough smoke.
- Grabbed the pouch (Red one).
- Opened it up, took a sniff.
- Felt the texture – kinda dry, chopped fine.
- Pulled out papers and filter.
- Sprinkled the tobacco on the paper.
- Rolled it up.
The Actual Smoke
Alright, time for the moment of truth. Lit it up. The first drag… well, it was tobacco. Nothing earth-shattering. It burned okay, maybe a little faster than some other stuff I’ve rolled. The taste was pretty basic, kinda bold, I guess? Not complex or anything. Just a straight-up, no-frills tobacco flavor. It wasn’t harsh, exactly, but you knew you were smoking something, you know?
Smoked it down pretty quick. Didn’t have to relight it, which was good. Honestly, it reminded me of some of the cheaper pre-made cigarettes, but maybe a tiny bit fresher tasting ’cause I rolled it myself. It did the job, gave me that nicotine hit I was looking for.
Final Thoughts
So, what’s the verdict? It’s… alright. It’s exactly what it seems to be: cheap, basic rolling tobacco. If you’re looking for something fancy with subtle notes of vanilla and unicorn tears, this ain’t it. But if you just want something to roll up that burns decent and gives you a smoke without breaking the bank, Gambler does the trick. It’s functional. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to get it again unless I was in a pinch, but I wouldn’t turn it down either if it was offered. It’s just… tobacco. Plain and simple.
