Okay, so “Golden Irish” – sounds fancy, right? I’d seen this cocktail pop up a few times, and it looked pretty simple, so I figured, why not give it a shot? I’m no mixologist, but I do enjoy a good drink at home.
Gathering the Goods
First things first, I needed to see what I had on hand. I already knew I was good on the Irish whiskey – got a bottle of Jameson that’s been waiting for a good occasion. Then, I checked the recipe, It’s basically:
- Irish Whiskey
- Peach Liqueur
- Orange Bitters
- Orange peel, for garnish
Good and easy-to-remember.

Making the Drink
I pulled out my cocktail shaker – it’s one of those basic ones, nothing fancy. I don’t even have a jigger, So I get a measuring cup. I poured in about 2 ounces of the Jameson. Then, I added, I think, something about a little bit more than a half ounce of the peach liqueur. I just eyeballed it, honestly, and added the 2 or 3 drops of orange bitters.
I filled the shaker with ice – gotta make sure it’s nice and cold. Then, I put the lid on and shook it like crazy for, I don’t know, maybe 20 seconds? Until the shaker felt super cold in my hands.
The Final Touch (and Taste Test)
I grabbed a rocks glass – seemed like the right kind of glass for this drink. I strained the mixture into the glass, I cut a strip of orange peel, twisted it over the drink to get those oils in there, and then dropped it in.
And that was it! The “Golden Irish”. It looked pretty good, all golden-colored and stuff. I took a sip… and man, it was smooth. The whiskey was definitely there, but the peach and orange balanced it out nicely. It wasn’t too sweet, which I liked.
Honestly, it was easier to make than I thought. And it tasted way better than I expected, too. Definitely adding this one to my list of go-to drinks. Might even try experimenting with different peach liqueurs next time, just to see what happens.
