Okay, so this week I dove into “flowers olave week 5,” and let me tell you, it was a bit of a rollercoaster. I started off feeling pretty confident, but things got a little… thorny… along the way.
Getting Started
First, I gathered all my materials. I’d watched a couple of videos on flower arranging, so I thought I had a general idea. I had my flowers, some floral foam, a vase, and my trusty scissors. I laid everything out on the table, feeling like a pro.
The Foam Fiasco
The first hurdle was the floral foam. I soaked it in water like the instructions said, but it kept… crumbling. Little green bits were getting everywhere. I tried to be gentle, shaping it to fit the vase, but it ended up looking more like a lumpy, waterlogged sponge than a professional base.

Flower Power (or Lack Thereof)
Next, I started arranging the flowers. The Olave flowers are so pretty, I tried to get the color and size sorted, I wanted a nice, balanced look. But they kept flopping over! Some stems were too short, others were too long, and I couldn’t seem to get them to stay where I wanted. I spent a good hour just poking flowers into the foam, pulling them out, re-poking them… it was frustrating.
The Snipping Spree
At one point, I got a little carried away with the scissors. I started trimming stems with wild abandon, trying to force the flowers into submission. This, my friends, was a mistake. I ended up with a bunch of short, stubby flowers that looked more like a sad bouquet than a vibrant arrangement.
The (Almost) Finished Product
- I used floral foam.
- I cut the flower.
- Put them into the foam.
After much trial and error (and a few deep breaths), I finally managed to create something that resembled a flower arrangement. It wasn’t perfect, not by a long shot. It leaned a bit to one side, and some of the flowers looked a little… droopy. But, hey, I did it! I learned a lot about patience, the importance of stem length, and the surprisingly stubborn nature of floral foam.
It’s definitely not going to win any awards, but I’m actually kind of proud of my wonky little creation. And you know what? It still brightens up the room. So, mission accomplished… sort of. Maybe next week I’ll try a different type of flower – something a little less… challenging.
