Okay, so I wanted to set up this online dartboard thing, you know, to play with friends remotely. Here’s how it all went down, step by step.
Finding a Good Dartboard App
First things first, I needed to find a decent app. I didn’t want anything too complicated, just something that could track scores and maybe let us video chat while playing.
I spent a good hour just browsing around, I tried a few different apps, some were okay, some were terrible. I finally settling on one.

Getting the Hardware Ready
Of course, I needed a physical dartboard. I already had one, but it was one of those old, beat-up ones. I decided I needed to get that thing mounted properly.
- The Board: Luckily, I have one already.
- Mounting:Got the screws and got that thing secured to the wall.
- Lighting: I realized my lighting was pretty bad, so I added a little lamp. Need to be able to see those doubles!
Setting Up the Camera
This was probably the trickiest part. I wanted my friends to be able to see the board clearly. I tried using my laptop’s webcam, but the angle was just awful. I also try with a phone, it is better.
I messed around with it for a while, adjusting the height, the angle, and the zoom. Finally, I got it to a point where you could see the whole board without any weird distortions.
Testing the Setup
Before I invited anyone to play, I did a few test runs. I threw some darts, checked the scoring on the app, and made sure the video feed was smooth. Everything seemed to be working pretty well.
First Game Night!
Finally, I invited my friends for a virtual darts night. Everyone downloaded the same app, we got our cameras set up, and we started playing.

There were a few minor hiccups at first. One friend’s internet connection was a little shaky, and we had some trouble hearing each other over the sound of the darts hitting the board. But we figured it out pretty quickly.
It was a lot of fun! It felt almost like we were all hanging out in the same room, even though we were miles apart. We played a few games, talked some trash, and had a good * is great to play with my friend.
Final Thoughts
Setting up this online dartboard thing took a bit of effort, but it was totally worth it. It’s a great way to stay connected with friends and have some fun, even when you can’t be together in person. And I think I played better than before.
