Alright, so today’s little adventure was all about trying out some new 8-ounce boxing gloves. I’ve been meaning to upgrade my gear for a while now, and figured, why not document the whole thing?
First off, I ordered these bad boys online. You know how it is, scrolling through countless options, reading reviews, and finally just taking a leap of faith. They arrived a couple of days later, all shiny and new. I unboxed them immediately, obviously. Gotta check out the goods, right?
The first thing I did was try them on. Felt pretty snug, which is what I was hoping for. 8-ounce gloves are usually for bag work and speed drills, so you want them nice and tight. I punched the air a few times, just to get a feel for the weight distribution. Seemed good so far.

Next up, I headed to the gym. Warm up is always key, so I did some light cardio and stretching. Can’t go throwing haymakers with cold muscles. Then, I wrapped my hands. This is super important – don’t ever skip hand wraps, folks. I made sure they were nice and secure, providing good support for my wrists and knuckles.
Then, the real fun began. I started with some basic jab-cross combinations on the heavy bag. The gloves felt great! Really responsive and comfortable. I focused on my form, making sure I was pivoting correctly and getting my whole body into each punch. I worked through a few rounds like this, just getting a feel for the gloves in action.
After that, I moved onto some speed drills. Light, quick punches, focusing on speed and accuracy. The 8-ounce gloves are perfect for this – they allow you to really snap your punches and build up your hand speed. I tried some double-end bag work too, which was a bit challenging, but definitely helped with my timing and reflexes. I spent a good amount of time just practicing different combos and footwork drills.
Towards the end of my session, I did some more power punches on the heavy bag. Really trying to dig in and generate some force. I noticed that the gloves provided good protection, even when I was throwing with full power. No pain in my knuckles or wrists, which is always a good sign.
Finally, after a solid hour of training, I cooled down and stretched. Gotta take care of those muscles. I took the gloves off and gave them a quick wipe down. And that was it! My first session with the new 8-ounce gloves.

Overall, I’m really happy with them. They feel great, provide good protection, and are perfect for both speed and power work. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade. I plan to keep using them regularly and see how they hold up over time. So far, so good!
