Alright, let’s talk about this Boston Breakout 2024 thing I tried out. So, picture this: I heard about this event from some online buzz, thought it might be a fun thing to do, sounds cool, so I signed up.
First off, getting into the whole thing was a bit of a mess. I went to their website, and all the information was all over the place. It took me a while to figure out where to register and what the schedule was. They had different themes, different rooms, and different timeslots, you know, it is really not well-organized.
Once I got that sorted, I chose a room that sounded interesting – something about cracking codes, which is a theme I’m into. It had a unique story-line, pretty cool, huh? I booked a time slot and showed up on the day, ready to go.

The place itself was okay. I mean, it is not too bad. Nothing fancy, but it had that escape room vibe. We got briefed on the rules – the usual 60 minutes to escape, no phones, don’t break stuff, etc. Then they locked us in, and the clock started ticking.
Now, the room, it was a real mixed bag. Some of the puzzles were pretty neat. I had to think, use some logic, and there were a few “aha!” moments that felt good. But then, some other parts were just… meh. I found that they were either too easy or just didn’t make sense. There’s this one thing where we had to find some numbers hidden in a book, and it was so random. Took us ages to figure it out, not because it was hard, but because it was a bit silly, if you know what I mean.
We stumbled through, got stuck a few times, and had to ask for hints. The staff was helpful enough, they gave us a few nudges in the right direction, that is great. But it wasn’t the smoothest experience. Some hints were just too obvious that we had figured it out, and they gave us this kind of hints…It felt like we were wasting time on things that weren’t really part of the puzzle, more like busywork.
My thoughts about this event
Anyway, we did manage to escape, with about 5 minutes left on the clock. It was a relief, to be honest. I have to admit that I felt a bit of a rush when we finally cracked the last code and the door swung open. We made it!
- My overall impression? It was alright. Not the best escape room I’ve ever done, but not the worst either. I’d probably give it a 6 out of 10.
- Would I go back? Maybe, if they had a really cool-sounding theme. Or maybe if I was with a group of friends looking for something to do.
- Would I recommend it to others? It depends. If you’re really into escape rooms, it might be worth checking out. But if you’re new to them, there are probably better places to start.
So, that’s my story about Boston Breakout 2024. It was an experience, that’s for sure. Not perfect, but hey, not every adventure is, right?
