Okay, so, “epic trophy,” right? Sounds cool, but what the heck was I even trying to do? Well, I wanted a really awesome, standout trophy for our yearly gaming competition. Something that screamed “You’re the ultimate champion!” Not just some cheap plastic thing you find at the store.
First, I brainstormed. Like, really let my imagination run wild. I sketched out some ideas on a napkin – a dragon, a giant sword, maybe a character from our favorite game. Everything looked pretty… rough. My drawing skills are, shall we say, “developing.”
Next, I hit up the internet. I spent hours looking at pictures of trophies, awards, sculptures, anything that might spark an idea. I found some pretty cool stuff, but nothing that was exactly what I wanted. I started thinking about materials. Wood? Metal? Plastic? 3D-printed something?

Then, I remembered this old box of junk I had in the garage. I dug it out and rummaged through it. And there it was! A weird, kinda cool-looking metal thingy. I have no idea what it was originally for, but it had a great shape – a solid base, and a funky, twisted top part. Perfect!
I cleaned it up, scrubbed off the rust, and gave it a good polish. It still looked a bit… plain. So, I went to the craft store and bought some gold spray paint, some glittery gems (because why not?), and some strong glue.
Back home, I got to work. I sprayed the whole thing gold, letting each coat dry completely before adding another. That took a while, so I watched some TV while I waited. Once it was all golden and shiny, I carefully glued the gems around the base, making a kind of sparkly pattern.
Finally, to top it all off, I found a small plastic figure of a knight – a leftover from a board game – and glued it to the very top. It looked surprisingly awesome. Like, seriously epic.
The Finished Product
- Base: Mystery metal object, cleaned, polished, and spray-painted gold.
- Decoration: Glittery gems glued around the base.
- Topper: Small plastic knight figure.
It’s not perfect, of course. It’s a little bit crooked, and the glue is a little bit visible in places. But it’s unique, it’s handmade, and it definitely looks like an “epic trophy.” I’m pretty darn proud of it. I can’t wait to award it to the winner! They’re gonna love it.
