So, I saw these matte golf balls all over the internet and thought, “What’s the big deal?” I decided to grab a dozen and see if they lived up to the hype. Here’s how it went down.
The Purchase
First, I ordered a pack online. Pretty straightforward. They arrived a couple days later, all brightly colored – I went with a mix of orange, green, and pink, because why not?
First Impressions
Right out of the box, these things felt different. That matte finish is no joke. It’s almost… grippy? Not sticky, but definitely not slick like a regular golf ball. I was a little worried they might feel weird off the club, but I was eager to give them a shot.

On the Course
I took them to my local course for a test run. Here’s what I noticed:
- Off the Tee: Honestly, I didn’t notice a HUGE difference in distance. Maybe a tiny bit more carry, but it could have been the placebo effect. The big thing was the look. These things are EASY to spot in the air.
- Approach Shots: This is where I started to see a bit of a difference. They seemed to check up a little quicker on the green. Again, not a massive change, but noticeable.
- Putting: No real difference here. A ball is a ball when it comes to putting, at least for me.
- Durability: They have a surprisingly good durability. After i hit it so many times, there is nearly no any wear and tear.
The Verdict
After playing a full round, I have to say, I am kind of digging these matte balls. The visibility is a real plus, especially on a sunny day. And that slightly softer feel around the greens is nice. Are they going to revolutionize my game? Probably not. But am I going to keep using them? Yeah, I think I will. They’re just fun, and sometimes that’s all that matters.
I still need to do a lot more practice and comparison between them to get the best result. But this time, I really enjoyed it. I will definetly share more in the future.
