So, I looked into his current stats and saw he was still putting up decent numbers. Figured he’d be a low-risk, high-reward kind of pickup. Did some digging to see what kind of contract he might be looking for, and it seemed like a veteran’s minimum deal was totally doable.
Next up, Danny Green. This guy’s a certified winner, plain and simple. I remember him draining those clutch threes during the championship season. I watched his highlights again, he’s a reliable shooter, a solid defender, and knows how to play his role. I checked his shooting percentages from last season, and while they weren’t amazing, he’s still a threat. I thought about how he could space the floor and take some pressure off LeBron and AD. Did some research on his availability and contract situation, and it looked like he might be a decent option if the Lakers needed some extra wing depth.
Then I thought about Rajon Rondo. Okay, yeah, he can be a bit of a headcase, but when he’s locked in, he’s a floor general. I distinctly remember the playoff runs where he elevated his game. And finally, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. He was such a solid role player for the Lakers. I looked back at his performance during their championship season, and he consistently knocked down open shots and played tough defense. I figured his reliability would be a welcome addition. I looked at his recent stats, he was still a good shooter and a decent defender, which lead me to believe he’d fit right back into the Lakers’ system. I analyzed potential trades or free agency scenarios that could make his return possible. It would be a real boost to the team’s shooting and defense.
So, yeah, that’s how I came up with the idea. I just started thinking about what the Lakers needed, who was available, and who had a proven track record of success with the team. Bringing these guys back wouldn’t be a guaranteed fix, but it could definitely give the Lakers a boost and bring back some of that championship DNA.
