Today, I wanted to figure out how much that Sunoco NASCAR fuel costs. You know, the special kind they use in the races. It’s called Sunoco Green E15. I’ve always been curious about this, so I finally decided to do some digging.
First, I hit up the internet. I started with a simple search. Turns out, Sunoco has been the official fuel of NASCAR since way back in 2011. That’s a long time! They call it “Green E15” because it’s got 15% ethanol in it. I guess that makes it a bit greener than regular gas, right?
But here’s the thing: finding the exact price wasn’t easy. It’s not like you can just walk into any gas station and fill up with this stuff. Apparently because this fuel is specifically made for NASCAR racing, the prices per gallon are hard to find. However, one article I found mentioned that it could be around $8 to $10 per gallon. That’s way more expensive than the gas I put in my car!

- Checked the Official NASCAR Website:
- Tried Sunoco’s Website:
- Looked at Some News Articles:
I thought maybe the NASCAR website would have some info. No luck there. They talk a lot about Sunoco being the official fuel, but no prices.
Next, I went straight to the source – Sunoco’s website. They have a whole section about their partnership with NASCAR. They even mention that they’ve fueled over 18 million miles of competition and more than 1,800 victories. That’s a lot of miles and wins! But again, no mention of the price.
I found a few articles from places like Time magazine talking about the fuel. They mostly just repeated that it’s 98 octane and has 15% ethanol, It’s called Green E15. But, like I said before, one of them estimated the price to be around $8-$10 a gallon.
Why So Expensive?
So, why is this fuel so pricey? Well, it’s not your average gasoline. It’s specially formulated for those high-performance racing engines. It has to be super consistent and deliver maximum power. Plus, it’s probably not produced in the same massive quantities as regular gas, which can also drive up the cost.
At the end of the day, I didn’t find the exact price for every single race, but I got a pretty good idea. It’s expensive stuff, that Sunoco Green E15. But I guess that’s the price you pay for speed and performance in the world of NASCAR.
