So, I actually got the chance to go to an Aaron Judge meet and greet recently. Heard about it through a local sports group online, figured why not give it a shot? I’ve been following his games for a while now, seemed like a cool opportunity.
Getting Ready and Heading Over
The day of, I made sure to get up pretty early. Didn’t want to miss out or get stuck way at the back. I grabbed my favorite Yankees cap and a brand new baseball I’d bought just for this. Thought about bringing a jersey, but figured the ball was easier to handle. I just drove over, found parking a few blocks away which wasn’t too bad, actually. Walking towards the place, you could already feel the energy. Lots of people in Yankees gear, definitely a shared excitement in the air.
Got in line, and yeah, it was already pretty long. But honestly, the wait wasn’t terrible. People were chatting, sharing stories about games they’d been to, speculating about the season. It was a pretty friendly crowd. I mostly kept to myself, just soaking it in. The anticipation was building up, that’s for sure. You could really feel the buzz.
Meeting the Man Himself
Okay, so the line started moving steadily. As I got closer, I could actually see him. First thought? Wow, he is seriously tall. Pictures don’t quite do it justice. He was sitting at a table, signing things, taking quick photos, talking briefly with everyone.
When it was finally my turn, I gotta admit, I felt a little bit nervous. Just walked up, said a quick hello. Handed him the baseball. He smiled, signed it real quick, asked how I was doing. I think I mumbled something like “Big fan, great season!” or something equally original. He nodded, said thanks. We did a super quick photo side-by-side. It all happened really fast, maybe 30 seconds total? But still, pretty cool.
- Managed to get my baseball signed cleanly.
- Got that quick photo op.
Afterwards
Walking away from the table, it felt kinda surreal. Looked down at the signed ball in my hand. Definitely a cool moment. Holding something the guy actually signed right in front of me. It wasn’t some super deep conversation or anything, but just being there, seeing him interact with fans, it was neat.
Just wanted to share how it all went down. For anyone who’s a fan, if you get a chance to do something like this, I’d say go for it. It’s a simple thing, but makes for a great memory. Definitely glad I went.
