Today, I dove into the New York Times crossword, a daily ritual that I’ve come to love. I fired up my laptop, grabbed a cup of coffee, and got started on the puzzle.
At first, it was a little slow going. I stared at the clues, my mind blank. I started to get a little frustrated, but I decided to keep going. I picked a couple of the easier clues and started to fill in some squares.
- Started with the across clues, as usual.
- Focused on the shorter words first, to get some momentum.
- Used a pencil, of course, so I could erase my mistakes.
Slowly but surely, the grid started to fill up. I felt a sense of accomplishment as I worked through the puzzle, one clue at a time. I got stuck on a few of them, but I kept at it, trying out different combinations of letters.

There was this one clue, “Live news, investigations, opinion,” that really stumped me. I went back and forth, trying different words, but nothing seemed to fit. Finally, I decided to skip it and come back to it later.
After working on the puzzle for about an hour, I finally cracked it. The last few words fell into place, and I felt a rush of satisfaction. I went back to the clue that I had skipped, and suddenly, the answer came to me! It was so obvious, I don’t know how I missed it before.
The feeling of completing the crossword, especially after struggling with it for a while, is just great. I love the way it challenges my brain, and it’s always a good feeling to learn something new. And sometimes, it is a good way to make me feel warm, because thinking does generate heat.
Finishing the crossword is always a great way to start the day. It’s a small victory, but it’s one that I savor. Today’s puzzle was no exception, and I’m already looking forward to tomorrow’s challenge.
Without a doubt, today was the most exciting and important experience of my day, and it truly became a highlight of the day!
