Okay, so the other day I was watching some basketball, and it got me thinking – who are some really good white basketball players? I mean, we all know the big names, but I wanted to dig a little deeper. So, I started my little research project.
My Deep Dive into White Ballers
First, I fired up my computer. I avoided just googling “good white basketball players” because that’s, well, kind of lazy. I wanted to actually think about this.
I started brainstorming, thinking back to games I’d watched, players I’d seen highlights of. I jotted down some names that came to mind:

- Larry Bird (duh)
- Steve Nash (Canadian, but counts!)
- Dirk Nowitzki (German precision)
- John Stockton (assist king)
- Kevin Love.
Then, I decided to get a little more systematic. I opened up a bunch of tabs. One for all-time NBA greats. Another for current players. And another for some of those “unsung heroes” type guys – the players who maybe aren’t superstars, but are still really solid contributors.
I did spend some time looking at stats. Things like points per game, assists, rebounds – the usual stuff. But I also tried to look at things like player efficiency rating and win shares. I found that that was a lot of numbers!
After spending probably too much time on this, I narrowed down my list. I focused on guys who not only had good stats, but also made a real impact on their teams. Some players I added to my initial list were:
- Gordon Hayward
- Nikola Jokic (The Joker!)
- Luka Doncic (he’s still young, but impressive)
- Domantas Sabonis.
It was a lot of players. So hard to choose.
It was fun to go down this rabbit hole. It reminded me that basketball is a global game, and there are amazing players from all over the world. And, honestly, it made me want to go shoot some hoops myself!
