Okay, so I’ve been messing around with my putting lately, trying to find that magic touch on the greens. I kept seeing Brooks Koepka drain putt after putt, and I got curious about his setup. Specifically, I wanted to know: What’s his putter length?
So, I started by searching online. I spent like an hour just browsing golf forums, and even watched a few YouTube videos of Brooks putting. I mean I need to get the first-hand experience.
My Experiment Begins
My current putter is 35 inches. I measured it like five times to make sure I was get a correct number. I grabbed some measuring tape and went out to my putting mat in the garage.

First Try (35 inches): I started with my normal putter. Hit about 20 putts from various distances. I made a few, missed a few. Nothing to get too excited about and I did not have something special feeling.
Second Try (Choking Down): Then, I remembered reading somewhere that some pros use shorter putters. So, I choked down on my grip, probably taking off about an inch or two, guessing it around 33 or 34 inches. I changed my way and keep my eyes focus on the golf ball.
- I hit another 20 putts. It felt…different. Kind of weird, to be honest. I felt more hunched over the ball. I sank a couple more putts this time, but it didn’t feel natural at all.
Third Try (Back to Normal): Okay, back to my regular 35-inch grip. Another 20 putts. Now, this felt comfortable, familiar. But was it the best? I still felt the regular grip is the best for me.
My Conclusion (For Now)
After all that experimenting, I didn’t magically turn into Brooks Koepka. I did not have an amazing feeling. But, it did make me think more about my posture and how I’m addressing the ball. The shorter grip forced me to bend more, which maybe gave me a little better view of the line.
I’m going to keep tinkering with it. Maybe I’ll try choking down just a little bit next time, not a full inch or two. It’s all about finding what works for me, right? And it might be totally different than what works for Brooks.

This putting journey is a marathon, not a sprint! And also need more practice!
