Okay, so I’ve been digging into Bernhard Langer’s setup – you know, trying to figure out how the guy stays so darn consistent. I started by checking out what clubs he’s actually using.
It’s pretty interesting, the man’s got some go-to’s.
Short Game
First I started around the green. I try to see those clubs he uses to approach the green.
- Wedges: I noticed he’s rocking Cleveland and Vokey wedges. Seems like he likes having options, you know? Different lofts and bounces for different lies and shots.
Putting
Then, I focused on the putting, which I think is very important to get a low score.
- Putter: Then there’s the putter – the Odyssey White Hot 2-Ball. I’ve seen him with that thing for ages. It must feel like an extension of his arm by now. I guess it is one of the key to his consistence.
It’s all a personalized system. He’s tweaked and refined it over years. And that’s what I took away from it – It makes me realized that I need to find what clicks for my own game.!
