Okay, so I saw this Dricus du Plessis haircut and I was like, “I gotta try that.” It looked pretty sharp, and I figured, why not? So here’s how the whole thing went down.
Getting Started
First, I needed to figure out exactly what this haircut was. It’s not like I could just walk into a barbershop and say “Give me the Dricus.” Most barbers, at least around here, probably wouldn’t know who that is. So, I gathered some pictures. Lots of them. From different angles. Seriously, my phone was full of Dricus du Plessis’s head.
The Barber Shop Adventure
Next, I found a barber I trusted. This wasn’t a time for Supercuts. I went to this place downtown that’s a bit more old-school, with the straight razors and the hot towels and all that. I showed the barber the pictures, and we talked it through. We discussed the length on top, how short to go on the sides, and how to blend it all together. He seemed to get it, which was a relief.

The Cutting Process
He started with the clippers on the sides. I could feel the hair coming off, and I’m not gonna lie, I was a little nervous. What if it looked terrible? But I trusted the process, and the barber seemed confident, so I just relaxed (as much as you can in that situation). He worked his way around, making sure everything was even. I can use those word, right?
Then he moved to the top. He used scissors for this part, snipping away and checking the length constantly. He kept asking me if I was happy with it, which was good. We made a few small adjustments along the way. It is necessary.
Styling
- After washing, I started with slightly damp hair.
- Then I used a good quality hair wax.
- And I found it’s a good idea to rub a small amount between palms to warm it up.
- Then apply the wax, starting from the back and working forward.
The Final Result
Finally, he did the finishing touches, cleaning up the edges and making sure everything was blended nicely. He held up a mirror, and I checked it out. Honestly? It looked pretty good! It was definitely a change, but I liked it. It felt sharp and clean, just like I wanted.
So, that’s the story of my Dricus du Plessis haircut adventure. It was a bit of a leap of faith, but it paid off. I’m digging the new look. Maybe I’ll keep it for a while, who knows?
