Okay, so I’ve been seeing these “John Daly cigars” pop up on my social media feeds, and, you know, I’m always up for trying something new. Plus, I’m a bit of a John Daly fan – the whole “Grip it and Rip it” thing just resonates with me. So, I figured, why not give these a shot?
First, I tried to find some information online. Honestly, finding details was a bit tougher than I expected. It’s not like searching for a Padron or a Fuente. But I did find a few online retailers that carried them.
Then I went and ordered a few different types, just to get a feel for the range. I got a couple of the “Original” blends, and then I saw they had a “Lion” cigar, which I think is a stronger one, so I grabbed one of those too. It took, I don’t know, maybe 5 or 6 days for them to arrive. No biggie.

The Smoke Test
- The “Original”: This one was pretty mellow, I’d say. It was a smooth, easy smoke, nothing too overpowering. I smoked it while I was grilling some burgers, and it was a nice, relaxing experience. The burn was even, didn’t have to relight it or anything.
- The “Lion”: Okay, this one definitely had more kick. You could feel it. It was a fuller-bodied smoke, a bit spicier. I’d probably save this one for after a big steak dinner or something. This one I smoked while sitting on the porch after the kids were in bed.
I tried to find some information about the leaf, you know, to try figure out what I was smoking,I can’t find anything.
My Overall Impression
Honestly, I enjoyed them. They’re not going to replace my go-to everyday cigars, but they’re definitely good for a change of pace. I’d say if you enjoy a lighter, smoother smoke, the Original is a solid bet, and the Lion is good when you’re feeling something with some extra oomph.
The whole experience, from hunting them down to actually smoking them, was kind of fun. It felt a bit like discovering a hidden gem. They’re not the fanciest cigars out there, but they’re good, honest smokes. I ended up sharing one with my buddy, and he liked it too. So, yeah, I’d definitely recommend giving them a try if you’re curious.
