Okay, so I’ve been messing around with putters lately, trying to find one that just feels right. I’ve heard good things about the Ping Scottsdale series, so I figured I’d give one a shot. Here’s how it went down:
Getting My Hands on One
First things first, I needed to actually get a Ping Scottsdale putter. I didn’t want to buy a brand new one without trying it, seemed like a waste. I looked around and find a used one that looked to be in pretty good shape.
First Impressions
When I got it, the first thing I did was just hold it, you know? Get a feel for the weight and the grip. It felt pretty balanced, which I liked. The grip was a little worn, nothing too bad. I made a mental note to possibly re-grip it later if I decided to keep it.

Putting It to the Test
- The Living Room Carpet: Naturally, the first test was on my living room carpet. I rolled a few putts, just trying to get a sense of how the ball came off the face. It felt pretty smooth, consistent.
- Backyard Green: Next, I took it to my backyard practice green. The speed was a little faster than my rug, obviously, so I had to adjust my stroke. I spent a good hour just hitting putts from different distances.
- The real test.I wanted to see what I could do.I’ve been playing for a while, so I need a real green.I get out to the course and go straight to the practice green.
The Result
At the end, this Ping Scottsdale putter is working with me.I’m rolling it good on short and long putts and I love the feel.I’m probably going to change the *’s a little worn and I think I can find something that I like better.I love the result.I think I found myself a new flat stick.
