Okay, so the other day I decided to make some cookies, but not just any cookies. I wanted to do something fun, so I grabbed my football-shaped cookie cutter. I’ve had this thing for ages, and I figured it was time to put it to good use.
Getting Started
First things first, I needed a good cookie recipe.I found a simple sugar cookie recipe.
- Gathered all the ingredients: flour, sugar, butter, eggs, the usual suspects. Made sure I had enough of everything before I got started, because there’s nothing worse than getting halfway through and realizing you’re out of something important.
- Preheated the oven. Gotta do that early, or you’ll be waiting around forever.
Making the Dough
Next up, I mixed all the dry ingredients. Then,I creamed together the butter and sugar until it was light and fluffy. I love that part, it’s so satisfying. After that I mixed wet ingredients and gradually added the dry ingredients. Finally I got perfect dough.

Time for the Cutter!
I rolled out the dough, making sure it wasn’t too thin or too thick. Then came the fun part! I pressed the football cookie cutter into the dough, making sure to get clean edges. I had to re-roll the scraps a few times to get the most out of the dough, I placed football shapes into the oven.
Baking and Cooling
I baked the cookies until they were golden brown around the edges. Took them out of the oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack. If you try to decorate them when they’re still warm, the icing just melts everywhere and it’s a mess. Trust me.
The Finished Product
They looked awesome! Perfectly shaped little footballs, ready for game day or, you know, just a regular Tuesday. I was pretty proud of myself, not gonna lie. Next time, I might try decorating them with some icing to make the laces, but for now, I was happy with my plain football cookies.
