Alright, so the other day I was craving something refreshing, and I remembered this drink called “John Daly.” It’s basically a boozy Arnold Palmer, but I didn’t have any premade stuff, and I was feeling a bit lazy to make it full version. Then I thought, why not just do a simpler version – a “John Daly’s Half”? Just the lemonade and the vodka. Easy peasy.
First, I grabbed a tall glass from my cupboard. Nothing fancy, just a regular glass I use for iced tea or whatever. Then I filled it up with ice. Lots of ice, because I like my drinks super cold. You can adjust that however you like, no big deal.
Next, I needed some lemonade. Now, I didn’t have any homemade lemonade on hand, and I wasn’t about to start squeezing lemons. So I just used some store-bought stuff. It is not big deal, everyone makes it. I poured the lemonade into the glass, filling it about halfway. Again, you can eyeball this. Like more lemonade? Pour more. It’s your drink!

After the lemonade, I reached for the vodka. I added about two shots of vodka into the glass. This is where you can really customize it. If you want it stronger, add more. Weaker? Add less. You do you.
Finally, I gave it a good stir. I just used a regular spoon for this. Make sure it is all mixed up nice and evenly, so you don’t get a big gulp of vodka all at once. It is so easy! After that, I took a sip. Boom! There it was. My super simple, super refreshing John Daly’s Half. You know, it’s not the real thing. But it hit the spot.
- Get a glass.
- Fill with ice.
- Pour in some lemonade.
- Add vodka.
- Stir and enjoy!
The taste
Honestly, it was exactly what I needed. The lemonade was tart and sweet, the vodka gave it a nice kick, and the whole thing was just cold and refreshing. Perfect for a hot day, or really any day you want something easy to drink. If you want something a little fancier, you can definitely add a lemon wedge or some mint, but I was going for minimal effort here. And you know what? It was perfect just the way it was. I am glad that I made this choice.
