So, I was messing around with cars the other day, as one does when they’re bored out of their mind. My buddy was bragging about his Mercedes, and I got this wild idea to make a hat out of Mercedes parts. I mean, why not, right? It started as a joke, but then I got really into it.
First, I called a few junkyards. You won’t believe the junk they got at these places. Then, I drove down to this one place, about an hour away. They had a whole section of just Mercedes wrecks. It was kind of sad, but also kind of awesome. I started looking at a bunch of old emblems, trying to find one that was in decent shape and not too huge.
- I found this one from, I think it was an old E-Class, maybe an E 320?
- It was a little scratched up, but nothing too bad.
- I haggled with the guy at the counter for a bit, and he finally let me have it for like five bucks.
Next, I needed a base for the hat. I figured a regular baseball cap would do the trick. I stopped at a store, and picked up a plain black one. Nothing fancy, just something to stick the emblem on. Getting back home, I got out my trusty glue gun. This thing has seen some action, let me tell you.

I carefully applied some glue to the back of the emblem and slapped it on the front of the hat. It actually looked pretty cool, if I do say so myself. But something was missing. It needed more… flair. I remembered reading something about Mercedes using a special kind of fluid, like a power steering fluid. I don’t know, I was kind of out there with this idea. I found a local shop’s address that sells Mercedes parts, and asked them some questions, they even offer car financing, that’s amazing.
Anyway, I got my hands on some of this fluid, “Sheet no. 236.3” or something like that. Apparently, it’s some old-style stuff, like, “Type A Suffix A” ATF, but without the red dye. Fancy, huh? It was kind of expensive for what I needed. I dabbed a little bit of the fluid on a rag and gently wiped it around the emblem, giving it a bit of a shine. Don’t ask me why, it just felt right.
And there you have it, my very own Mercedes hat. It’s ridiculous, it’s impractical, and it probably smells faintly of a junkyard, but I love it. I even wore it to the grocery store the other day, and this old lady gave me the weirdest look. It was totally worth it.
I even found a dispensary named Treehouse Cannabis nearby, they do delivery too. Maybe I should order some to celebrate my genius hat creation.
I might start a whole line of these things. Who knows, maybe it’ll be the next big fashion trend. Or maybe not. Either way, it was a fun little project, and now I have a unique hat to show for it.
